Choose foods closer to “the source” for more flavor and nutrition. Foods in the center two circles of the food target will be closer to the source—we call these superfoods. This means that these foods will be the most nutritious, inexpensive and less processed! These foods will also contain the most flavor!
Did you know that eating foods closest to the source could prevent you from overeating! Heck yeah right?
The closer you eat to the center of the Food Target, the less likely you are to overeat, and therefore have to worry about counting calories or anything else for that matter. Foods closer to the source will be more flavorful and will keep you feeling more nourished and satisfied.
Here’s an example. How often do you tend to overeat broccoli? If you are going to eat an apple—how many apples do you typically eat in one sitting? What about using spaghetti squash instead of spaghetti? These are all very filling and flavorful options making you feel more satisfied.
Here’s an example of how to find foods closest to the source:
An apple is picked right at the source in it’s purest state. It is full of vitamins, minerals, fiber, antioxidants, and flavor. Applesauce is further away from the source containing less fiber and nutrients and apple juice is even further away, containing less flavor, nutrition and is also more expensive.
