Module 2: Living Your Best Life

Of course, we all want to live healthier and better lives, but it goes much deeper than that. We all have specific issues we are trying to tackle that stand in the way from performing at our best and reaching our true potential.

Whatever issue you may struggle with whether it be cholesterol issues, sleep disorders, high blood pressure, weight, acid-reflux, or other lifestyle related issues—superfoods will be your most powerful medicine. The body doesn’t heal in isolation, it heals as one unit. Everything in the body is connected and as you start to get healthier at the cellular level by consuming superfoods, your health will improve from the inside out and you will find that all of your specific issues will start to disappear.

Because chlorophyll and omega 3s are the foundations from a nutrition standpoint, use these foods as your most powerful medicine—they are magical. It’s not what you are eating, it’s what you are missing.

What About Allergies & Food Sensitivities?

Building the immune system is the key to getting rid of allergies and food sensitives. As you start to eat healthier foods that strengthen your gut health, you will find that your allergy symptoms will start to improve or go away and that food sensitivities will be a thing of the past. 90% of the immune system is located in the gut. When you make your gut healthier by eating superfoods that contain live digestive enzymes needed to breakdown and absorb the food we eat, our immune system gets stronger and we are better able to tackle anything that comes our way. Gluten intolerance usually stems from a week gut and immune system.

Are You Acidic or Alkaline?

Alkalinity and acidity are measured in pH (potential hydrogen). Every food and beverage has an acid or alkaline characteristic and is measured on a pH scale of 0-14. Did you know that your lifestyle and what you eat affects your pH?

Unfortunately, we live in a very acidic environment with high stress, processed foods, too much coffee, and acid forming diets. These lifestyle factors can throw off your pH balance causing your body to leach out valuable buffering minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and iodine as a way to bring it back into balance. Keep in mind that inflammation lives in acidic environments and inflammation is the root cause of every disease.

Wondering how a diet soda can make you fat? Why high protein diets can't be heathy for the body long-term? For starters, the pH of a diet soda is a 3 and it is used to clean rust off bumpers and blood off concrete. Can you imagine what it does to your body? Overtime, when the body is too acidic, it leaches out iodine which regulates the thyroid, and the thyroid controls metabolism hence difficulty losing weight. When it comes to high-protein diets, proteins are also known as amino acids. Too many amino acids makes the body super acidic leading to poor bone health, difficulty sleeping, poor digestion, sluggish metabolism, and inflammation.

Simple Tips for Making The Body Alkaline

1. Eating foods found in the center two circles of the Food Target. These foods are all alkalizing on the body.

2. Choosing only organic animal products and limit your dairy intake such as cow's milk, cheese, and yogurt.

3. Make sure you are getting quality sleep each night (7-9 hours).

4. Incorporate more rest and rejuvenation practices to manage acid- forming stress.

5. Exercise is a great way to burn up stress and make the body balanced.

You can measure your pH with pH strips from the health food store. Simply stick under your tongue for a couple seconds to see where you measure up on the pH scale.
